Interview with Audun Lysbakken at Arendalsuka 2021 – Sosialistisk Venstreparti (Socialist Left Party) [Translated]

1. What do you and your party do for children and young people in Norway?

• The SV believes that there is a lot to be done for children and young people in Norway. The differences between the citizens of Norway are far too great. Many children in Norway live in poverty, we must take this seriously insofar as the richest ought to pay more taxes so that there is sufficient money for those children and young people where they live. I think that after-school activities must be free to ensure that everyone can participate. We must also end the enormous excretion of emissions; we owe it to the children and young people who will take control over the world.

2. What do you think about Frikort (exemption card) for children and young people?

• All children and young people must be allowed to participate in activities in their free time, many leisure activities and experiences are costly. Therefore, SV has proposed several times that open and free leisure activities should be ensured throughout the country.

3. Do you think children and young people should have access to free public transport?

• In many places traveling by public transport is too expensive. It should be more affordable for children and young people to use public transport.

4. What do you think about the fact that children’s voices are generally unheard?

• Children and young people should be heard! Only children and young people themselves can talk about how they feel. Also, hildren’s and young people’s organizations must be strengthened.

5. What can you do to ensure that children’s rights are upheld?

• Children’s rights are violated too often. We have to realize better arrangements for children in general, such as at schools, in hospitals in the judicial system and leisure time. This costs money and politicians must ensure the realization of these arrangements.

6. What do you do for the climate?

• The climate crisis is here and now, therefore, it is urgent to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve this, SV has made a plan for Norway to decrease emissions with 70% by 2030. We have no time to lose.

7. What do you want to do to improve the availability of health workers and accessibility in school?

• We need more health workers where children and young people are. To realize this, more money needs to be made available for health workers in schools.

8. If you are elected prime minister, what will be your first priority for children and young people?

• In that case I would focus on SV’s main topics, which will be of great importance to many children and young people. We want to stop lethal climate change and, additionally, redistribute money from the rich to families with little money and realize universal after-school activities for free so that every child can participate.

1.    Hva gjør du og ditt parti for barn og unge i Norge?-    SV mener det er mye som må gjøres for barn og unge i Norge. Det er altfor store forskjeller mellom mennesker i Norge. Mange barn i Norge lever i fattigdom, dette må vi ta på alvor ved at de rikeste må betale mer skatt slik at det blir mer penger til barn og ungdom der de bor. Jeg mener SFO må være gratis så alle kan delta. Vi må også få slutt på de enorme klimautslippene. Det skylder vi barn og unge som skal ta over jorda.2.    Hva mener du om Frikort til barn og unge?-    Alle barn og unge skal få delta i aktiviteter i fritiden. Mange fritidsaktiviteter og opplevelser koster mye. Derfor har SV flere ganger foreslått at det skal sikres åpne og gratis fritidsaktiviteter i hele landet.

   3.    Synes du barn og unge bør få gratis kollektiv transport?

   –    Mange steder koster det for mye å ta kollektiv transport. Det bør bli billigere for barn og unge å ta kollektivt.

   4.    Hva synes du om at det ikke er nok barn som blir hørt?

   –    Barn og unge skal bli hørt! Det er bare barn og unge selv som kan fortelle om hvordan de har det. Barne- og ungdomsorganisasjonene må også styrkes.

   5.    Hva kan dere gjøre for at barnerettigheter blir holdt?

   –    Altfor ofte blir barns rettigheter brutt. Vi må få på plass bedre ordninger for barn generelt som for eksempel i skole, på sykehus, i rettssystemet og på fritiden. Dette koster penger- og det må vi politikere sikre.
   6.    Hva gjør du for Klima?

   –    Klimakrisen er her og nå. Derfor haster det med å få ned klimagassutslippene. For å få til dette har SV laget en plan for at Norge skal kutte utslippene fram mot 2030 med 70 %. Vi har ingen tid å miste.

   7. Hva vil du gjøre for å bedre tilbudet til helsesykepleiere, og
   tilgjengelighet i skolen?

   –    Vi trenger flere helsesykepleiere der barn og unge er. For å få til dette må det settes av mer penger til flere helsesykepleiere i skolene.

   8. Hvis du blir valgt til statsminister, hva vil være din
   førsteprioritet for barn og unge?

   –    – Da ville jeg valgt SVs hovedsaker, som vil bety mye for mange barn og unge. Vi vil stoppe de farlige klimaendringene, flytte penger fra de rike til familier med lite penger og gjøre SFO gratis, sånn at alle barn kan være med der.
