After several pilots in libraries, we have developed the following framework for starting a media hub à la ChildPress.

Choose a corner or wall in the library that is suitable for showing the public that you are committed to hearing from all the children in the city or neighborhood about their most important talents, how they want to develop these in their own environment, and which issues they would like to see addressed.

Set up the designated space by:

• Placing a round table or creating a space where chairs or cushions can be arranged in a circle, allowing the children to sit comfortably.
• Reserving a wall to display the publications created by the reporters, optionally complemented by a parasol for a creative touch.

Consider which children might be interested in participating in the discussions. The easiest approach is to collaborate with a school and see the teacher as a supporter. Once you have a class with an engaged teacher, they can start with a circle discussion that feels familiar to them. Turn it into a game by placing A4 sheets in the circle. For you, as a library, it is valuable to select books, films, or magazines that relate to the topics being discussed.
